Donor for Life is a Solvita Blood Center recognition program honoring and encouraging whole blood, platelet, and plasma donors who embark on a lifelong commitment to impact lives.

At significant milestone blood donations, these donors receive a small gift celebrating their achievement and thanking them for their dedication:

High School Blood Donor Recognition

Red Cord Honor Program

• Students who register to donate blood three or more times during their high school career earn a Red Cord to wear during graduation events. Seniors must complete the requirement by May 15 (or by the date of their school’s final blood drive of the year, whichever is later). View the poster to learn more.
• The program recognizes students for their desire and commitment to providing lifesaving donations and bolstering the community blood supply.
• Students can qualify by registering to donate blood at their participating high school blood drive located in Solvita’s Ohio and Indiana service area, any Solvita community blood drive, or Solvita’s downtown Dayton location.
• Students 17 years of age and older (and age 16 with signed parental consent) are enrolled in the program when they register to donate blood at their participating high school blood drive.

Earn a Diploma Seal

Seniors can now earn a Community Service Seal or Student Engagement Seal for Ohio high school graduation requirements by participating in Solvita’s Red Cord Honor Program. View the poster to learn more.

2023-2024 High School

Students who register to donate blood throughout the 2023-2024 school year at their high school blood drive will receive one of the following t-shirts. These t-shirts are available while supplies last. Colors may change as well as shirts depending on size and quantity.
